This is Julia’s Newsletter, a newsletter about Gratitude for life and creative expression .
Lockdown seemed to give space for more creativity and a small kiln opened the doorway to exploring ceramics. With not much knowledge, I have explored and continue to explore this medium, often combined with wood (found locally).
My first rather ambitious piece arose from a found piece of wood. After treating it, I decided climbing roses were the response to it….porcelain is rather fragile, but I managed it with a few stressful moments drilling and attaching the pieces. The piece is about 1.5 m high.
I continue to find pieces of wood and combine with ceramics.
I am so grateful for creative expression, it is an inner inspirational stream that helps through the most challenging periods. There is something about working with the hands that gives a deep presence to what you are doing in the here and now - then difficult things in the world at large disappears for a time.
